Soil in the urban environment

A pdf teacher guide to assist students explore the chemical reactions of pH, salinity, sodicity (dispersion) and corrosion in soil and apply these chemical reactions to a real world scenario. Students explore the difference between topsoil and subsoil and use laboratory tests to determine if the topsoil can be re-used in the landscaping of the property development project. Also explores soil sodicity, the potential for scaling and corrosion of steel and concrete, and urban soil contamination. Includes suggested questions and activities for students.
