Marine Discover Centre Port Macquarie | Educational Programs

SECONDARY: The Marine Discovery Centre in Port Macquarie offers primary and secondary in person school programs that can be tailored to any subject that you require ranging from marine invertebrates and classification, fish adaptations to reproduction in the oceans and aquaculture.

A typical program runs as a round robin activity with students moving through the centre and completing activities within each of the different areas of the marine centre, most with a hands on component.

PRIMARY: Their “Explore the Marine Centre” program encourages students to investigate the sea life in the live aquaria, touch live animals in the touch tank and even feel preserved specimens and real shark teeth and skin to discover more about our marine world and how animals can adapt to it. This program is a round robin of activities and also includes a tour of our clownfish hatchery and the use of our computerised fishing stations to teach students about local fisheries and conservation.
