Know Your Drinks – Water

This comprehensive teacher resource is designed to help students understand the importance of hydration and the role of water in maintaining good health. The unit delves into the Australian Guide to Healthy Eating advice to drink plenty of water and the range of health benefits it provides.

With a focus on hands-on exploration and investigation, students will learn about different sources of fluid, including soft drinks, energy drinks, and sports drinks, and evaluate their nutritional value and drawbacks. This unit will also challenge students to think critically about the sustainability issues surrounding water consumption, such as the environmental impact of bottled water versus tap water and the financial implications.

In addition to gaining a deeper understanding of the importance of hydration, students will also have the opportunity to reflect on their own water and fluid intake and assess the health, financial, and environmental impact of their choices. This interactive and engaging lesson plan is an excellent addition to any classroom and will leave students with a newfound appreciation for the role of water in maintaining a healthy and sustainable lifestyle.
