Investigating Pigs and What They Produce
This unit encourages students to examine aspects of pork production and the things that farmers are doing to care for their pigs that are grown, raised and processed for food. Students explore methods and technologies involved on Australian pig farms to house and produce pigs. Students are given an insight into ways farmers care for their animals and are deigning housing systems using a variety of housing regimes, designed with environmental stewardship principles and animal welfare standards in mind.
