Australian Food from Nature & Nurture
Introducing the “Nature and Nurture in Food Production” Teacher Resource and Lesson Plan. This engaging unit is designed to provide students with a hands-on experience of the food production process and the impact of both nature and nurture on the growth and development of plants. By planting, tending, and observing plants, students will gain a deeper understanding of the various factors that contribute to successful food production, including food, shelter, sunshine, watering, planting, sowing, feeding, fertilizing, and harvesting.
The unit is designed to spark students’ interest in environmental sustainability and the role that they can play in protecting and preserving our natural resources. Throughout the unit, students will learn key vocabulary words related to food production, and they will apply their new knowledge through hands-on activities and critical thinking exercises.
In this lesson plan, students will get to put their green thumbs to work and gain a deeper appreciation for the natural world and the important role it plays in our food supply.
