Designing Healthy Ice Pops

Introduce your students in grades 3-5 to the fascinating world of agriscience with a hands-on lesson plan from NSTA and Corteva Agriscience.

This lesson focuses on the creation of a healthy and tasty ice pop to be sold in the school cafeteria. This lesson is perfect for students who are interested in food science, entrepreneurship and marketing. The students are challenged to work in teams to create a new flavour of ice pop that is both healthy and delicious. The students must consider the ingredients they use and the steps they take in the production process to ensure that the ice pop is a healthy alternative to the other snacks offered in the school. The goal is to sell the ice pop to school districts to offer to students at lunch. To finish the project, the students will present their new flavour and its marketing plan to the principal.

This teacher resource is an excellent opportunity for students to learn about agriscience, entrepreneurship and marketing in a fun and interactive way. The 10-lesson plan series from NSTA and Corteva Agriscience is a valuable tool for teachers looking to engage their students in science and real-world application.
